Never one to shy away from colour, it is nice to meet (through the socials, as all ‘meetings’ seem to happen these days) a fellow colour lover. A self taught illustrator, Bonnie Gray has a unique painting style that makes it hard not to smile when you look at one of her incredible works. Describing herself as a ‘scientist of colour’, Bonnie humbly admits she only bought her first canvas last year as an experiment. Already she is getting commissions worldwide for her paintings. If only it was that simple for all of us!!

Constantly experimenting with colour Bonnie describes her fierce colour game like ‘fruit salad’. In her interview with Bohemian Traders she explains that when she see’s two colours, or four colours that look sick she’ll just put them away in her mind, or will jot what she saw down in a notebook. As soon as she gets home she’ll have a play straight away and try and find the colour that she recently saw, painting it on a piece of scrap paper ready to use for her next work. This method of picking colours is something I am definitely keen to try for our next collection. And boy wouldn’t one of Bonnie Grays’s paintings just sit perfectly above a bed covered in Sage x Clare?! I think we are a match made in heaven! xx
