Heart-to-Heart With: Simone Pansino

Heart-to-Heart With: Simone Pansino

Bonnie Kelly |

Meet Simone Pansino, the designer and founder of We The Stars. Simone creates luxe sunglasses and jewellery, but her passion for styling, interiors, and fashion has been part of her journey for as long as she can remember. One day, she was working in a legal office, feeling uninspired and stuck… and the next, she was chasing her dreams, designing one-of-a-kind sunglasses and jewellery that reflect her unique aesthetic.

Stepping into her family home along the Surf Coast, I was immediately struck by the giant windows framing a lush green backdrop, a dreamy outdoor bathtub and natural sunlight spilling into every corner. The space radiates warmth, personality and effortless style.

A devoted collector, Simone has curated her home with meaningful décor and trinkets gathered from her travels around the world. When she welcomed me at the door, I couldn’t help but notice the mug she was sipping her beloved chai latte from… only to learn later that she had made it herself, spending hours crafting every detail. It’s these little touches that make her home feel both magical and unmistakably hers.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Simone Pansino and I am the artist behind We The Stars, I design artisanal eyewear and make one off crown JEWELS by my hand

Tell us about your brand, We The Stars, how did this come to life? What was your career journey before owning this business?

I started working in a legal office and eventually my colleague and I created a high end children's eyewear brand, we learnt a LOT, featured in a full page in VOGUE and then evolved into different directions which left me wanting more creatively, so I begun my brand of adult eyewear and have now unfolded into adding & creating jewellery pieces, which I am LOVING as everyday I get to create ART and make people these incredible HEIRLOOMS which are so beautiful and unique, what a GIFT

How do you hope someone feels when they wear your designs?

Oh my gosh this is EVERYTHING I want people to feel ICONIC, luscious, beautiful, I want people to walk around feeling like they are some form of Egyptian royalty

What is your creative process when designing your jewellery and sunglasses? What inspires your pieces?

With the Jewels, I work intuitively with gems, seeing and feeling what works, using different colours, shapes and setting styles... My eyewear was inspired by the era of Slim Aarons, set in the 60's/70's in Palm Springs... now that is ICONIC ohhh my i love the feeling of this photography and the people within it, what an absolute vibe, NOW that is what inspired my sunglasses... lets just say it inspires my LIFE

For anyone who feels unsure about choosing accessories that truly reflect their style, whether it’s sunglasses or jewellery, what advice would you offer?

This sounds cheesy, but follow your HEART, go with your FIRST instinct & do not be AFRAID to wear a conversation starter.. the bottom line is if you look good you feel good.

Describe the feeling you had when you first walked into this home… how did you know you know it had to be yours?

The sunken lounge, the high ceilings, the 360 degree windows, the feeling of: am I indoors or outdoors?? My heart knew it was mine, I had been planning a fairy-palace-wonderland just like this for the last 10 years, without even realising it!

Your home has such a relaxed, tropical energy. What was your vision when you first began shaping the space?

Going back to the iconic Slim Aarons Palm Springs vibe was always the initial vision but I am largely inspired by the tropics, nature & unique conversational art pieces... I think our home is just an extension of me.

How would you describe your interior style, and how has it evolved over time?

Mid-century Palm Springs with a touch Woodstock... the home evolves with me, adding more unique art in many different mediums.

There’s so much beautiful decor in your home collected from your travels abroad, what draws you to a piece when you’re far from home?

The craziness of the piece & if it's a conversation starter, I love home decor. Ohhh and it MUST be unique... if someone else has it, I don't want it.

With such a beautiful outdoor space and a love for entertaining, what are your go-to tips for hosting in a way that feels easy and relaxed?

Sharing the load, bringing a dish each - that way every dish has maximum effort put into it! Always have the music on and a fire going to keep the vibrations at an all time level.

You’ve recently become a Mum (congrats!), how has motherhood shaped the way you move through the world?

Thanks, it's pretty funny, I am learning to move through the world at a more present pace, it has also broadened by senses and evolved my awarenesses, I am LOVING it.

Do you have any evening rituals that help you wind down at the end of the day?

I have a baby so there isn't much rhythm at the moment, but on the ideal evening -  it would be a sauna/ outdoor bath and some essential oils... but right now, it's cuddles and some books with my baby... we are learning to create a rhythm as our lives are so chaotic and we are socially busy people.
